My uncle is autistic so he has sensory sensitivities, and he’s largely nonverbal so he can’t tell you what those sensitivities Are, so what he does is, if you give him a shirt that is a bad texture, he goes and gets his scissors and he cuts it into tiny little pieces so no one can ever ask him to wear it ever again, and the thing is is that he is so totally right
This post is okay to rb and also if you are neurodivergent when you are In A Situation you are advised to think “is this when uncle matt would go and get the scissors” and if the answer is yes then it is time to put your foot down
Thinking about when CG was used exactly one time in the entirety of spongebobs pre-movie 3 season run
Like, they could’ve easily just had him instantaneously burst through the wall and get roughly the same joke across, but the fact the writers wanted him to slowly push through the wall like that SO BADLY that they went out of their way to implement the cg effect to do so is so fucking funny to me fndmmsmsms
doing research on people’s preferred formats for how restaurants have their menus displayed online and i’m including responses to the post to send to my boss but um. i don’t think i can include this specific response
coordinated cosplays are cute but I think a bunch of people cosplaying the same character and then walking around a convention in a roving pack is much funnier
I actually think it’s less funny when there are canonical reasons for there to be 29 versions of the same guy. Yeah yeah we’ve all seen a thousand versions of Spider-Man or Link. But 15 Imperator Furiosas riding an escalator? Beautiful. An elevator full of Kim Kitsuragis? Perfect. A lunch table occupied only by Nick Valentines? I can imagine nothing more inspiring.
My favourite thing about the D&D movie is it never stops trying to be a D&D movie even down to the most minute, unsung details. There’s initiative order gags (I’ll go last!) there’s rolling a 1 gags (setting off the trap on the bridge by inexplicably just walking up to it) there’s stat gags (nobody had high enough Intelligence to be in danger from the Intellect Devourers). Almost every spell is identifiable, from Xenk using smite to Sofina whipping out Finger of Death. Simon’s character arc is about his self-confidence being tied to his mastery of magic because Charisma is the spellcasting stat for sorcerers. The era of movies based on games being afraid of their source material is over.
and the thing is
It managed to do all that without making the movie inaccessible or incomprehensible to non-geeks/nerds/players.
My mom (claimed she) liked it, y'all. She falls asleep in harry potter movies, but she apparently liked this - and paid enough attention to ask a relevant question (why couldn’t the girl with horns change into an animal to get them out of the underground cave?)
I cannot stress enough that her paying that much attention to/getting a fanasy movie to that degree is Mind. Blowing. The woman Does Not Do fantasy/scifi, but she seemed to enjoy this.
